For Andrea Cooper, Assistant Director at Fall Real Estate, a single social media post was all it took to spark a deep connection with The Kids’ Cancer Project.
"All it took was one post of a child from The Kids’ Cancer Project’s Facebook account, and I just wanted to help and do whatever I could."
Looking for a suitable charity partner for her business, the Tasmania-based Fall Real Estate agency, Andrea was drawn to the cause of curing childhood cancer.
“Cancer affects so many people, including myself” she says.
“When it comes to cancer, any step toward better treatment matters.”
That commitment to better outcomes for kids with cancer is something the entire Fall Real Estate team has embraced. In 2023, the team participated in The Better Challenge, which sees each participant take on 90kms for the 90 kids diagnosed with cancer each month, during September and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
“The entire Fall team have loved partnering with The Kids’ Cancer Project. They’ve been so supportive,” Andrea says.
“They jumped at the chance to be involved in the Better Challenge to help fund scientists working on better treatments and outcomes for kids battling cancer.”
The results of that involvement have been two-fold—raising funds for research while also strengthening team spirit.
“There have definitely been unexpected benefits, like team building,” Andrea says. “It gave us something bigger than ourselves to rally around.”
Fall have now got their eyes on taking their partnership to the next level – planning a fundraising Gala Event to mark Fall Real Estate’s 30th anniversary.
“We’ve formed a dedicated group to organise the event, which will include an auction with donated goods. The aim is to raise extra funds for The Kids’ Cancer Project, and we’re excited to see how far we can take it!”
Andrea has supported many charities over the years, but she says The Kids’ Cancer Project stands out.
“This team is the most engaged I’ve come across. I always feel that every cent raised is directed to where it matters most—towards the children’s treatments, support, and outcomes.”
Her message to other businesses considering a partnership is clear: “Do it. This is a cause that can touch anyone, at any time.”
