I am delighted to announce The Kids’ Cancer Project’s inaugural Research Symposium will take place from 28-29 August 2025 at The Hyatt Regency, Sydney.
To The Kids’ Cancer Project, research is our why and how. After being told that he should look to raise funds for oncologists after attending far too many funerals through the 1990s, our Founder, Col Reynolds OAM, pivoted our entire business model towards funding research.
From 2005 onwards, we have funded over $75 million worth of research, backed by our world-class Research Advisory Committee. Our funding has seen research facilities go from quasi-classrooms to high-tech establishments, while we were responsible for the initial funding of Zero Childhood Cancer, ensuring every Australian child with cancer is given access to clinical trial.
Our slogan is survival starts with science. An 86% five-year survival rate is every indication that science has most certainly started, but not finished. We won’t rest until 100% of children, adolescents and young adults survive cancer and live with no long-term health implications caused by their treatment.
The Research Symposium is an incredible opportunity to both reflect and look to the future of childhood cancer research. It’s a time for discussion and thought, which will lay the foundation for the evolution of our research. It’s also an excellent way to connect.
I look forward to our entire Alumni at the Research Symposium and I thank you for playing your part in realising our dream of no child dying from cancer.
Owen Finegan.
