The personal connection inspiring Pestrol partnership

For Andrew Fennell, Founder of Pestrol, supporting childhood cancer research is more than a corporate initiative. It is a cause close to his heart.

Andrew's sister, Susan, tragically passed away from brain cancer while his mother was pregnant with him. Her story has remained a meaningful part of his life, shaping his commitment to supporting children affected by cancer.

“It’s a big part of why this matters,” Fennell says.

The this in question is Pestrol’s new corporate partnership with The Kids’ Cancer Project. Through the partnership, Pestrol customers will be able to ‘round up’ their purchases for a charity donation, with additional fundraising activities planned in the future.

After hearing about The Kids’ Cancer Project on Nine Radio, Fennell began looking into the organisation and was impressed by its approach and impact.

"It became very clear very quickly that The Kids’ Cancer Project aren’t just another charity – they’re focused on funding meaningful research while also supporting real outcomes for kids and families,” he says.

“Quite simply, progress for kids with cancer depends on funding research. Early-stage research and clinical trials don’t get off the ground without it. Organisations like The Kids' Cancer Project act as a bridge, ensuring new ideas can get moving so they can turn into real treatments.

“They’re backing serious research while also making a difference in real time. That balance between long-term impact and immediate support is what made the decision straightforward.”

While childhood cancer is a cause that is certainly close to Andrews’ heart, he says the partnership also needed to make sense from both a commercial and values perspective. In The Kids’ Cancer Project, he found an organisation whose mission aligned strongly with Pestrol’s own commitment to making a positive difference.

“Kids and families are dealing with something most people can’t fully understand. Every improvement into improving quality of life during and after treatment matters”

“For us at Pestrol, the goal is simple; help fund research that leads to better treatments, while also supporting programs that bring comfort and relief to kids and families going through a tough time.”

The Kids’ Cancer Project’s Head of Partnerships, Patrick Phibbs, says he is delighted to welcome Pestrol into the fold.

“On behalf of The Kids’ Cancer Project, I want to thank Andrew and the wider Pestrol team for coming on board and supporting childhood cancer research,” he says.

“We’re proud of the partnership we’ve already forged, united in our bid to achieve a 100% survival rate with no long-term effects for kids with cancer. Andrew’s commitment to the cause simply cannot be understated. He understands childhood cancer far more than most, and his insights are of the highest value to our staff and legion of researchers."
