The Kids’ Cancer Project wishes to extend its thanks to Debra Singh, who has concluded her role as a director on the charity’s Board of Directors as of February 2026.
Debra joined The Kids’ Cancer Project as a director in 2017 and has been heavily involved since, providing strategic insight and guidance as the organisation has grown to become Australia’s largest independent childhood cancer research charity.
The Kids’ Cancer Project CEO Owen Finegan says Debra's involvement and long-standing support of the charity has been second to none.
“I want to sincerely thank Debra for the time, commitment and energy that she has added to The Kids’ Cancer Project Board,” he says.
“Her governance insight and strategic input have added real value to our discussions and strategic direction over the last decade.
“As a member of the Board for over nine years, we have been extremely lucky to have Debra’s support, wisdom and measured perspective, which has helped us strengthen both our thinking and our impact.”
Prior to her involvement with The Kids’ Cancer Project, Debra was Group CEO Household Goods for Greenlit Brands, overseeing Fantastic Furniture, Plush, OMF and Freedom Furniture. She was also an Executive Director on the Board until March 2020, when she moved into semi-retirement after over 30 years’ experience in leadership, having previously been the first female to lead a trading division at Woolworths.
“Being involved with The Kids’ Cancer Project has given me immense pleasure and hopefully helped to make a small difference,” she said.
“Being part of an organisation that is passionately focused on making change through science has been inspiring, and having been through my own cancer journey, my wish is for no child or family to have to experience the impacts of cancer.
“One highlight for me has been the funding that The Kids’ Cancer Project has been able to provide to childhood cancer research with over $75 million committed. It’s actually staggering that a small charity has delivered such an outstanding result.
“My absolute belief is that the answer to helping children is out there, and only research is going to uncover it and truly make a difference.”
The Kids’ Cancer Project Board now comprises nine members: Chair Kazuma Naito, Founder Col Reynolds OAM, Tim Rose, Jessie Glew, Tim Blair, Cathryn Prowse, Simmone Reynolds, Nigel Everard and Shane Sibraa.
