George Stamas has witnessed first-hand the many evolutions of The Kids’ Cancer Project. The Director of GJK, a storied partner of the charity, Stamas has been determined to give his time and money to worthy causes for much of his life.
K’day is one of those causes.
GJK is a leading provider of facility services, committed to providing better experiences to its customers. Celebrating its 40th year in 2025, the company has grown to become a multi-national entity with a team of over 4,000 staff, with many of them volunteering their time to those less fortunate.
In 2026, the company returns as a Matching Partner for K’day, The Kids’ Cancer Project’s annual double donation day held on 15 February.
"K'day has been building momentum for some time, and we love being a part of it. If we can set a record total in 2026, that would put a huge smile on my face,” Stamas says.
GJK’s affinity with The Kids’ Cancer Project spans decades. After hearing a charity representative speak at an association board meeting he attended, Stamas felt compelled to assist The Kids’ Cancer Project in its mission.
"The Kids’ Cancer Project is one of our favourite charities. To have seen it grow from a guy driving a bus around to what it is today is simply magnificent.
"This charity started from Col’s dream. For it to have evolved into what it is today is a huge legacy. He has shown how one person can make a difference and empower thousands of people.”
It’s those many years of association that led to GJK being a K’day Matching Partner year on year.
We provide matching funds for K’day because of our partnership with The Kids’ Cancer Project.
Funds are limited in the health space. Providing money to a dedicated childhood cancer charity is very empowering to us for that reason.
Echoing the sentiments of Col Reynolds and the wider team, Stamas says many of the public are unaware of the ability they possess to change lives.
"If people began to see the difference they can make by giving to a great cause – it doesn’t have to be a huge sum – those small contributions add up to something that can really help these young children,” he says.
"I encourage every person who is considering donating this K’day to look at the cause, examine its history, and consider how much of their money can make a genuine difference by funding vital research.”
