Chris Barron joins The Kids' Cancer Project Board

A shared belief in the power of research, community and connection to change the future for children with cancer

The Kids’ Cancer Project is delighted to welcome Chris Barron to its Board.

Chris brings more than two decades of experience across media, marketing and commercial strategy, along with a strong personal commitment to helping purpose-driven organisations create greater impact.

For The Kids’ Cancer Project, Chris’ experience represents an opportunity to build on the charity's strong community connection and help more Australians understand why investing in childhood cancer research matters.

As CEO of Optimise Media, Chris leads a full-service media agency providing strategy, planning and buying across television, radio, outdoor and digital media. Throughout his career, he has worked with Australian and international organisations across a broad range of sectors, helping them achieve sustainable growth through innovative, performance-focused marketing strategies.

Our mission is to fund bold and innovative research that helps improve survival and quality of life for children with cancer. The opportunity is to grow a community of donors, partners and advocates who understand that every donation today powers a sustained investment in the science that will improve outcomes for children, giving every child the best chance not only to survive but to thrive.

That is why reaching more people and inspiring Australians to support research is so important, building meaningful connections and helping them understand that every donation today powers the science that will improve outcomes for children into the future.

Chris believes strongly in the role The Kids’ Cancer Project can play in creating positive change.

“I’m passionate about helping purpose-driven organisations like The Kids’ Cancer Project strengthen their reach and build meaningful connections with their stakeholders. Having been a part of the charity's fundraising efforts over the past few years, I’ve developed a great appreciation for the work that Col, Owen and their Board and wider team do for the community, and the opportunity to contribute to an organisation that is focused on changing the future for young Australians diagnosed with cancer is incredibly motivating.”

His experience in media, marketing and commercial strategy will complement the expertise already represented across the Board and help The Kids’ Cancer Project continue to strengthen how it tells the story of childhood cancer research, engages supporters and grows the community behind its mission.

While Chris brings considerable professional expertise to the Board, it is his shared belief in the importance of community that makes his contribution particularly valuable.

The future of childhood cancer research depends on all of us. It depends on researchers prepared to challenge what is possible. It depends on donors and supporters willing to back bold ideas. And it depends on a community that understands that every research investment has the potential to change a child's future.

We are excited to have Chris join us on that journey.
