A fantastic day out on the green at St. Micheals Golf Club in Little Bay, and from the first tee-off, there was plenty happening. An on-course DJ kept the energy high, while players enjoyed competitions, activations, a raffle and auctions that had everyone eager to get involved. There were even opportunities to win beer for a year, thanks to Bricklane and Bromic, plus golf prizes from WILD Golf for the winning team.
Off the course, guests enjoyed refreshing cocktails from DNA Distillery and a wine tasting from Hentley Farm, while Solos Golf provided a free glove for every player. Our Live Auction generated over $60,000 on the day! A massive thanks to our auctioneer, Mark Lines from McGath.
But while there was plenty of fun and friendly competition, the day was all about something much bigger: helping fund vital childhood cancer research.
Evie, forever 9.
We were honoured to hear from Charles Poolman, whose daughter Evie was diagnosed with a DMG brain tumour shortly after Christmas in December 2020.
A healthy and energetic nine-year-old, Evie bravely underwent four brain operations, long stays in intensive care and six weeks of radiation. Through it all, she remained incredibly courageous, with her favourite song, Fight Song, perfectly capturing her spirit.
Sadly, just months after her diagnosis, Evie’s disease progressed. She died on 17 June 2021, less than six months after her diagnosis.
Charles and his wife Bridget, alongside their daughters Grace and Molly, have since joined other families in raising awareness and funds for research – determined to help ensure no other child and family face the prognosis Evie did.
Their story is a powerful reminder of why days like our Spring Golf Day matter. Every round played, dollar donated, and conversation started helps build momentum for childhood cancer research and better outcomes for children and families in the future. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us, donated, bid, sponsored and helped make the day such a success.
Congratulations to our Golf Day winners for 2026!
