How you can make a difference during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

2026-09-03

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to turn awareness into action. Whether you take on a challenge, give a bear or join us at an event, there are plenty of ways to show your support and help fund the research working to change what happens next for children with cancer.

Childhood cancer changes lives in an instant. But together, we can help change what happens next.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – a time to shine a light on the impact of cancer on children and their families, and to recognise the researchers working towards a brighter future.

Every year, 1,000 Aussie kids are diagnosed with cancer, and it remains the leading cause of disease-related death in Australian children. That’s why research matters. The discoveries made today can help researchers develop better treatments, reduce side effects and give more children the chance to grow up healthy.

Every dollar raised for The Kids’ Cancer Project helps fund vital childhood cancer research, supporting researchers as they work towards better treatments, fewer side effects and, ultimately, a future where every child with cancer has the best chance of survival.

Whether you take on a personal challenge, make a donation or join us at an event, together with your support, we are making a difference for children and families affected by cancer.

Take on Better Challenge

Ready to get moving for a great cause?

Better Challenge, powered by Betta, challenges you to walk or run 90km in September for the 90 Aussie kids diagnosed with cancer every month.

It’s a chance to challenge yourself, bring your friends, family or colleagues along for the journey, and raise funds for childhood cancer research at the same time.

Give a bear on Bear Giving Day

For Bear Giving Day on September 9, your donation gifts a bear to a child in hospital while supporting the research that could change their future.

A fluffy friend can become a familiar friend through some of the hardest days. Your gift can help bring comfort today while helping fund hope for tomorrow.

Your gift will be generously matched by Smartways Logistics to bring more comfort to children in hospital and fund more research.
