Types of childhood cancer

Brain and central nervous system cancers

There are many forms of childhood brain cancer, each growing in different parts of the brain. Some brain tumours grow slowly, while others are quite aggressive and can spread quickly to other parts of the brain and body.

Blood cancers

The two main blood cancers in children are leukaemia and lymphoma.

Sarcoma

Sarcoma refers to several cancers that start in the body’s connective tissues. This includes bones, muscles, tendons, cartilage, fat and blood vessels.

Neuroblastoma

Neuroblastoma is the most common solid tumour found in children.

Other childhood cancers

Wilms tumour, retinoblastoma, hepatoblastoma, germ cell tumours, rhabdoid tumours. There are others. Our dream is for no child to die from cancer.
