One in a million: Write a Book in a Day SMASHES seven figure barrier

2025-09-09

The Kids’ Cancer Project is ecstatic to announce that with the help of writers, team coordinators and sponsors across the country, a record $1 million has been raised to fund vital kids’ cancer research thanks to the Write a Book in a Day competition.

Setting the lofty target ahead of this year’s campaign, The Kids’ Cancer Project has been bullish on achieving the goal for sometime. Achieved some three weeks before fundraising concludes, it is another huge improvement on last year’s total of $930,000.

The Kids’ Cancer Project CEO, Owen Finegan, says he is elated with the outcome.

“On behalf of The Kids’ Cancer Project, I would like to thank each of the sponsors, writers and team coordinators involved in Write a Book in a Day that have made this day possible,” he says.

It’s been ten years since The Kids’ Cancer Project kicked off their affiliation with Write a Book in a Day, and what a way to celebrate.

"This total will help us immeasurably as we set our sights on a 100% survival rate with no long-term effects for kids with cancer."
