Leaving a gift in my Will: Thoughtful pragmatism

Carolyn Lawless.

Carolyn has left a gift her will to support medical research into childhood cancer to ensure kids with cancer have hope for a brighter future.

The Kids’ Cancer Project recently asked Carolyn the reasons behind her decision to leave a visionary legacy gift.

Carolyn, thank you for leaving a gift in your Will to The Kids’ Cancer Project. What inspired you to do so?

From personal experience I know that cancer is a painful, nasty disease. I hate the idea of anyone, especially a child, having to suffer unduly from pain and wanted to do something to help alleviate this.

Why was it important for you to leave a bequest?

A bequest ensures that money will be distributed to the charities I care about without causing excess work for my Executors.

What do you hope will be achieved by leaving a gift in your Will to The Kids’ Cancer Project?

I lost a loved one to cancer some years ago. Funding research into the causes and possible cure for this horrible disease may help alleviate some of the pain and suffering others may have to endure.

You used Gathered Here to make your Will for free, was that an easy process and is that how you learned about The Kids’ Cancer Project?

Making a Gathered Here Will was so easy. I did not know about The Kids' Cancer Project before I started to set up my will.

The Kids’ Cancer Project knows that survival starts with science. Carolyn, your thoughtful generosity will be one that will give kids with cancer a brighter future. What would you say to a anyone who might be thinking about making a Will and including a gift to charity?

Don't hesitate, do it today!
