“Your concept is brilliant, your materials are wonderful and we love the connection it builds with the community. Our kids adore it and that, after all, is what it is all about - student engagement.”
Louisa Mulligan - Loreto College, Marryatville SA
The Kids’ Cancer Project is pleased to announce registrations are now open for our budding author initiative Write a Book in a Day.
This initiative offers school students and amateur writers a unique opportunity to challenge themselves by collaborating in a team while helping kids with cancer.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to participate in a creative, academic challenge, while supporting childhood cancer research” said Owen Finegan CEO of The Kids’ Cancer Project.
“Feedback highlights the real sense of accomplishment and pride participants gain in creating a book that will be read by and for a child in hospital.”
The event is a fun, team building, writing experience open to people of all ages with all levels of writing, computer and graphic skills. A panel of teachers, librarians and authors judge the completed books across various categories.
Over five hundred teams participated in 2015 and The Kids’ Cancer Project is looking forward to seeing schools and budding authors return and new writing groups registering.
The competition is held from 1 April – 31 August.
“I just wanted to say, this our first entry into this competition and what a fabulous collaborative team-building exercise for these young children. Well done for organising such a great event and we are glad that we could participate and help raise funds for the Kids’ Cancer Project”
Shelley Antoni, St Pauls Primary School
