2016 Research Funding Round is now open

2016 Research Funding Round is now open Proposals are reviewed and shortlisted by our RAC for consideration by our Board.

Col Reynolds founded The Kids’ Cancer Project in 1993 once he learned research was the only way to help children with cancer.

We have since continued to search for and support the research that looks for better ways to diagnose, treat and cure childhood cancer, improve the quality of life of patients and families whose children suffer from cancer, providing hope for the future and a better quality of life for survivors.

We do this by supporting the most promising research, selected through a competitive grant application process. In the 2015-2016 financial year our research investment was over $4 million.

2016 Grant applications are now open: research project proposals are submitted online to our Research Manager, then reviewed and shortlisted by our Research Advisory Committee for consideration by our Board of Directors.

In order to be eligible for consideration, research project proposals must directly align with at least one of our Research Priorities:
  • Priority 1: Improving survival and treatments
  • Priority 2: Late effects
  • Priority 3: Capabilities
  • Priority 4: Understanding childhood cancer
  • Priority 5: Adolescents and Young Adults (AYAs)
  • Priority 6: Access to care

Owen Finegan, the charity's CEO said The Kids’ Cancer Project has developed a national and international reputation for excellence.

"We support scientists, capabilities, research projects and fund cutting-edge childhood cancer research," he said. "This round we will continue to growing our commitment and investment into funding more research than ever before.”

“We look forward to working with the research community to help kids with cancer sooner rather than later because it is a priority for the Kids’ Cancer Project to participate in areas of greatest impact with the ultimate goal of bringing about 100 per cent survival for children with cancer while minimising the harmful impacts of treatments.” Finegan said.

Applications open 1 March 2016 9.00 am (AEDT) and close 13 April 2016 5.00 pm (AEDT).
